mit Annalisa Maggiani und Henriette Heinrichs
im Dock 11 - Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg
13-14 Dezember 2025
Zeit: Täglich 11 - 18 Uhr
Workshop „Rhizome“

Butoh Body Liberation Retreat 2026
"Body Resonance based on Butoh" by Yumiko Yoshioka
"Ecosomatic Dance with Nature and Authentic Movement" by Annalisa Maggiani
5. Juli – 11. Juli 2026
Ankunft am 4. Juli, Abreise am 12. Juli
Casa Florida in Ligurien (Italien)
contact: Annalisa Maggiani
In Body Liberation Retrait, Yumiko's Butoh “Body Resonance” is accompanied by Annalisa Maggiani's “Movement Dance with Nature and Authentic Movement, ecosomatic”.
Our bodies will thus find a way to expand and liberate the imagination and potential for metamorphosis, starting with the training led by Yumiko Yoshioka in the morning and continuing with Dance with Nature and Authentic Movement in the afternoon, immersing ourselves in the place and creating performative rituals. The performance-presentation will arise from these moments.
This approach is proposed as a dance and experience that helps us to be more receptive and in touch with our nourishing Self, with our healing body, with our creative potential, and with the collective human and non-human body.
Body Liberation Retreat
How can we reach the liberation of the body? How can we nourish the healing body? Let´s dance and move the resilient body, with flexibility like leaves in the wind and stability like deep grounded roots, and capacity for metamorphosis and transformation.Yumiko Yoshioka and Annalisa Maggiani have been collaborating for about 30 years in performances, performance projects and workshops. This new proposal stems from the desire to create a retreat for Self-care regeneration, performance practices combining Body Resonance and Butoh with Ecosomatic Dance with Nature and Authentic Movement.A journey into the resonances of the body, images, the nature and experience of performative practices.
Programm
In the morning sessions for 3 hours,Yumiko Yoshioka will offer “Body Resonance” meeting the memories of the body, and freeing the resilient element in our body. The lunch break will give us a chance to rest in nature or cool off in the river! In the afternoons for 3 hours, Annalisa Maggiani will lead us with the “Ecosomatic Movement Dance with Nature and Authentic Movement” with the resonances of the elements of nature and your body. Our body will find a way to expand and release the imaginary and the potential of metamorphosis, as opened in the morning trainings. The mornings and afternoons come together toward a path of resonance, openness, and awareness, by releasing emotional and bodily blocks and integrating this experience into our live and performative rituals.

Our Philosophy
The Body as a place of Being, of Becoming, of Passage in the continuous flow of existence, as a place of treasures to be known…By giving form to the images that start from the body and the nature, we obtain a stronger perception of the world of sensations, of internal landscapes and of the connection with the external world, with the universe of which we are a part.
Body Liberation
This Project is not proposed here as therapy, but as dance and experience that help us to be more receptive and in touch with our nourishing Self and the creative - healing body: organic movement, body resonances, encounters with nature and the trans-personal aspect can nourish the regenerative energies inherent in the body and open up new movement and performance practices: Body Liberation!
Story
Thirty years since the first major Butoh Performance Project in Italy, which took place at the Castle of Lerici (La Spezia) under the artistic direction of Annalisa Maggiani and Yumiko Yoshioka and with the participation of many dancers, performers, artists and musicians. The first in a series of site-specific Butoh performance projects between Liguria and Tuscany, which you can see at this link from Gest/Azione: THE FIVE CASTLES - five site specific butoh performance projects in Italy - 1995-2000
The Butoh Body Liberation Retrait celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of artistic collaboration between Yumiko Yoshioka and Annalisa Maggiani with the presentation-performance ‘HiIkari ’Light" at the Mythoslogos festival in Sarzana, the exhibition at the Galleria Factory (Sarzana) with photographs by Stefano Lanzardo and a film curated by Mario Morleo of the Butoh performance projects in the Castles (1995-2000).
We celebrated by creating a site-specific performance entitled ‘HiIkari ’Luce" (Light), which originated from the Butoh Body Liberation Retreat. Open link for the vernissage, exhibition and Performance.

RHIZOMES
Self-care, creative process and interconnections: an ecological and ecosomatic approach to Dance Movement Therapy
17–20 September 2026
Withdrawal Lunigiana
Casa Florida (Pontremoli)
“Any point on a rhizome can be connected to any other point, and must be so.”
Deleuze and Guattari in “Connection and Heterogeneity”
The retreat will offer the opportunity to acquire the tools to experience and recognise our system of common roots, the collective body and interconnection: we will connect with the collective, pulsating body, grounding, rootedness and multiplicity, the connection with the earth and that between living beings.
Dancing the "Rhizomes" means developing a personal and collective dance with other living beings, in contact with nature and with our human nature, our potential for social involvement, our vagus-ventral nerve and our roots.
We will seekə to re-establish a connection with the 'natural body', combining individual rituals with collective rituals, the connection between the Self, the Place and other people and creatures with performative-ritual moments.
Through elements from Butoh dance and an ecosomatic approach to Dance Movement Therapy, we will experience interconnection on various levels, discovering its fundamental value for energy recovery, regeneration, self-care and the creative process.
Dance Movement Therapy practised in nature with its elements can open up a radically salutogenic space by connecting with a collective sense of Being.
This seminar aims to provide in-depth knowledge in both clinical and pedagogical fields.
In contact with Nature, the seminar will offer a space and time for self-care, for connecting with sources of recovery, for embodying the processes that connect us and give us security, for the creative process, for connecting with it and treasuring it, which is extremely important for dance therapists and those working in the helping professions.
Procedure
The retreat will take place indoors and outdoors. Times:
Thursday 5pm-8pm
Friday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, musical accompaniment by voice researcher and musician Cristina Alioto.
Who it is aimed at: it is open to everyone, dance therapists (qualified and in training)
Professionals in the helping professions, teachers, researchers, artists, dancers, performers, and anyone else interested, regardless of age. More detailed information will be provided upon registration.
Methodologies
This work is the result of extensive research aimed at creating a foundation of awareness and integration between the body, movement, the human imagination and the elements of nature: mirroring is a fundamental point in this approach, Butoh dance, the ecosomatic approach, Dance Movement Therapy, authentic movement, body work based on Laban-Bartenieff, Body work, organic movement, art therapies and meditation & ecosomatic practices, and deep ecology are further starting points for this research.
